The History Society, founded in 1982, has the aims of advancing the understanding and knowledge of local history; promoting publications and articles; and holding exhibitions and similar related activities.

Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month (except August) at the Riverside Centre at 7:30pm when talks are given on a variety of topics relating to our local heritage. Visitors are welcome at all meetings.

A regular newsletter is produced quarterly and distributed to all paid up members.

Visits to places of interest, both local and further afield, are organised.

  • Guided walks are offered around Towcester to visiting groups.
  • Regular contacts are maintained with other Local History Societies.
  • The history of Towcester's people, buildings and organisations is researched.
  • Lists of interest to Family History researchers are maintained.
