Climate Change

It is now generally accepted that climate change is inevitable and that we will have to take steps to avoid the worst effects by reducing our emissions of greenhouse gases. Climate change will have far-reaching effects on our community. The need to adapt to the effects of climate change will be with us for the rest of this century and beyond.

The Wellingborough Partnership has developed a Toolkit to enable groups to participate in an hour long event looking at the potential effects of climate change in the Borough of Wellingborough. This was done having received government funding (DEFRA). It is one of the few projects in the Country to be selected to help raise awareness of Climate Change.

The toolkit was formally launched at the Wider Partnership Meeting on 4
December and the following day the Rt. Hon. David Miliband, Secretary of State for the Environment visited Wellingborough. He was given a copy of the Toolkit and he was on a panel answering questions from pupil at local schools.

Elements of the Toolkit, along with an application form to receive the whole Toolkit can currently be downloaded from Wellingborough Council's website.
